LeadersNOW International Volunteers Needed

This is a great program- contact Stephanie Rao if interested. There is a training a week from today!

Annie Lang, the founder of LeadersNOW International, will be in town from Pennsylvania to provide a training session on Friday, June 20th from 1-4 PM at 1016 Curtis Place, Rockville, MD 20852 (babysitting provided). Please let me know if you are able to attend with the number of children so we can have enough babysitters. Please RSVP by June 16th.

After being trained you may:

1) Start your own LNI club (for 7th-12th grade girls) to run on your own or with a group of other trained volunteers (any time in the future). LNI is truly international with clubs all over the US as well as in Australia and the Philippines

2) Be part of the Rockville LNI teaching team - we are currently 8 volunteers who have been involved with the first LNI Rockville Chapter (7th/8th grade girls). Based on schedules and lesson interest, each volunteer committed to teaching at least one lesson during the school year (other volunteers welcome at lesson whenever she would like even if she isn't teaching). This allowed us to be involved with a great program without overbooking our schedule for the year. We are growing and planning to start another club out of Rockville in the fall so we'd love more people to join the teaching team! This group will meet on first Fridays from 7-9 PM at the same place as the training. We also planned multiple community service projects throughout the year giving other opportunities to interact and get to know the girls. It's been a great experience!

As you will see in the training, the whole curriculum and lesson plans (the hard part!!) have already been created by Annie. The volunteer/program coordinator would study the lesson plan and prepare to teach the lessons (ranging from "characteristics of leaders" to "designing a wardrobe"). The volunteer would then attend the club meeting to teach the class and socialize with the girls at the end of the lesson.

I've attached our schedule/syllabus from last year so you can see the titles of the lessons.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like take a look at the program manual.

Please pass on to others who might be interested.
